Cube School

Invited by a local high school to design a project addressing academic integrity, cheating, and cultures of competition, TDAR assembled a one-day "cube" classroom, asking each student to teach us a lesson about something that interested him or her. Refashioning passive learners as active teachers, we attempted to create a space in which the transmission of knowledge became a creative, non-competitive exchange, temporarily recuperating learning from the pressures of evaluation.

Future School For Old Ideas

The Future School For Old Ideas is a summer enrichment camp premised upon the progressive potential of re-producing, re-living, and re-mixing the past, positing that the most transgressive thing one can do is to do it exactly the way it's been done before.

Academic Aesthetic Breakout Session

TDAR'S inaugural project, the "Academic Aesthetic Breakout Session" was a month-long residency at the Philadelphia Institute for Advanced Study (PIFAS), an experimental cultural collective located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.  Across August of 2008, the Department hosted a range of lectures and workshops exploring boundaries and intersections between gallery and classroom, image and text, and exhibition and education.
